Below is a list of all the people who are exempt from paying for their eye test.
- Under the age of 16
- Aged between 16-18 and in full time education
- Over the age of 60
- You or your partner receive job seekers allowance
- You or your partner receive income support
- You or your partner receive pension credit guarantee
- You are named on an NHS Tax Credit Exemption card
- You are registered blind or partially sighted
- You have been prescribed complex lenses
- You or your partner hold an NHS HC2 certificate
- You have diabetes
- You have glaucoma
- You are considered by an eye specialist to be at risk of glaucoma
- You are aged 40+ and are the parent, sibling or child of a glaucoma sufferer
All children 18 and under in full time education and patients receiving a government benefit are also entitled to free lenses in their glasses and the option of a free NHS frame.
